SEA STAR
EULIMID
| Swollen galls on sea stars are inhabited by several
glassy snails, where they are permanently enclosed. They suck bodily fluids from
the host and release gametes through tiny pores. Attains 0.3 inch, 8 mm. East Africa to Hawaii and the Tuamotus. The white lump on the sea star's
crawling surface (topside in photo) is a Hawaiian Linckia limpet,
Thyca
hawaiiensis. |
