Family Palaemonidae

Subfamily Pontoniinae

Cuapetes spp.

Makaha, Oahu, 30 feet

Firehouse, Oahu

Kahalu'u tidepool, Hawaii

HIMB, Moku o Loe, Oahu, 1 foot

Haleiwa Trench, Oahu, 30 feet

Locally abundant in brackish estuaries and within reef crevices but rarely seen due to transparent body.  Attains 1 inch.  Until more specimens are examined it remains unclear if these are Cuapetes grandis and possibly Cuapetes elegans, both widespread Indo-Pacific species.
