Erythrina sandwicensis

Formerly common tree of dry lowland forests, many populations were
destroyed for urban development & large-scale agriculture. Attains height of
50 feet. Flowers orange, white, or green. Extremely light
wood was used to construct surfboards, net floats, and canoe outriggers.
A
parasitic gall wasp has been affecting these trees. Endemic to Hawaii. |
