HAWAII - ENDEMIC
|Formerly common tree of dry lowland forests, many populations were
destroyed for urban development & large-scale agriculture. Attains height of
50 feet. Flowers orange, white, or green. Extremely light
wood was used to construct surfboards, net floats, and canoe outriggers.
parasitic gall wasp has been affecting these trees. Endemic to Hawaii.
