Cargo Pier, Midway, 30 feet

Rare around the Main Hawaiian Islands but locally common in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands and Japan.  Greenish or reddish brown with red eyes and a dark spot on the gill cover.  Attains 4 inches.  Occurs in scattered subtropical areas of the Indo-Pacific.  Formerly known as Scorpaenodes littoralis.
