STOCKY HAWKFISH        po'opa'a

Common on shallow reefs exposed to wave action.  A thick-bodied fish that sits on the reef and darts into crevices when approached.  Feeds upon small fish and a wide variety of mobile invertebrates including snails.  Attains 11 inches.  Hawai'i & the Indo-Pacific.
