Family Pomacanthidae

Angelfishes

Angelfishes differ from Butterflyfishes in having a large spine on the preopercle.  Diet varies by species, from algae to sponge or zooplankton.  Small species are generally shy and remain close to the reef while large species may be easy to approach.
