SPONGY DAISY CORAL

Uncommon in lagoons and channels.  Variable, encrusting, plate-like, domed, or columnar, extended tentacles (12) short, brown or dark green, sometimes with a iridescent sheen or pale tentacle tips.  Skeletally the corallum is very light and lattice-like.  Red Sea to Japan, east to Samoa.
