KAY'S HELMET
| Uncommon in sand deeper than 30 feet, but dead shells are common in
beach drift or hermit-crabbed. Shoulder with obsolete cornations, outer lip & columella
thick, four sharp denticles along bottom of outer lip, aperture wine. Attains
at least 2.4 inches, 60 mm.
Philippines to Okinawa, Hawaii, and French Polynesia. Formerly
lumped together
in Hawaii with Casmaria ponderosa. |
