Rare on rocks or manmade structures in murky bays and harbors of Hawaii but common elsewhere.  Shell heavy, with fine striation visible on the side, rosy base fading after death.  Attains 4 inches, 100 mm.  Red Sea to Japan, Hawaii, and the Tuamotus.  Formerly known as Cypraea vitellus.
