VIRGIN DOVE SHELL

Common under stones in shallow water.  Biconic, with tapering ends and a white protoconch, keeled axial ribs, interspaces with fine spiral striae, aperture narrow, columella smooth, color and pattern variable.  Attains 0.2 inch, 4mm.  New Caledonia to Hawaii, and the Society Islands.  Formerly lumped together with Seminella peasei.
