FLORAL PUFFER
Rarely seen among mud or sand at deeper scuba depths where it feeds
upon invertebrates. Remains buried with just the eyes exposed
during periods of inactivity. Mass settlement of juveniles
recorded along O�ahu's north shore in 1986, 1993, and 2009.
White reticulated with brown and a lateral stripe of yellow spots.
Randall's Puffer has a brown
lateral stripe and bar below the eye. Attains 7 inches.
Restricted to Hawai'i, Japan, and China. Formerly known as Lagocephalus hypselogeneion. |
