Uncommon on shallow reefs.  Plates with few valleys at colony origin, raised nodules or short ridges with large teeth, more than two rows of polyps within valleys, green or brown, polyps pale.  Mycetophyllia lamarckiana has short ridges or nodules and numerous polyps between.  Florida to Venezuela.
