Ficopomatus enigmaticus
AUSTRALIAN TUBEWORM
An invasive species that forms thick masses on hard objects just below
the surface in brackish estuaries and ponds. White calcareous tubes
2-3mm in diameter with flaring aperture forming annular collars with
successive growth. Tentacular crowns greenish-yellow. Native
to Australia and spread worldwide on ship hulls or ballast water. |
