PONDEROUS HELMET

Rarely found alive on sand at scuba depth but common empty or inhabited by hermit crab.  Shoulder with prominent angular nodules, outer lip & columella very thick, 1 or 2 rows of denticles present along entire length of outer lip, aperture pale.  Attains 2 inches.  East Africa to Hawaii and French Polynesia.
