SNOWFLAKE
CORAL
A Tropical Atlantic species that was accidentally introduced to the
Pacific by shipping activity. In Hawai'i it is invasive, found on shaded
piers or pilings, reef walls,
wrecks, and black corals exposed to current at any depth.
Carijoa's rapid growth allows it to smother native species such as Black
coral. Its flexible branches may attain 8 inches or
more. Native to the Tropical West Atlantic and invasive in Hawai'i & the Indo-Pacific. |
