Erect woody herb up to 3 feet tall, dark green leaves 15-35 per branch.  Flowers on very short petioles, male flowers near branch ends.  Occurs in disturbed lowlands of the Main Hawaiian Islands.  Native to India & Sri Lanka.

Erect weak herb up to 20 inches tall, bright green leaves 10-25 per branch.  Female flowers on long pedicels.  Occurs in gardens & disturbed urban areas of the Main Hawaiian Islands.  Native to the Mascarene Islands east of Madagascar.
