Thorny sprawling vine, shrub or small tree popular in gardens, often trimmed to form a hedge.  More than one species used to create various colored cultivars.  True flowers are white, surrounded by colorful modified leaves or bracts.  Grows well in dry sunny locations.  Native to South America.
