 ACHILLES TANG        pāku'iku'i

Common on shallow reefs exposed to breaking waves where it feeds upon filamentous algae.  Occasionally creates hybrids with the Whitecheek Surgeonfish. Attains 10 inches.  Hawai'i, Micronesia, and Polynesia, waifs present in the Tropical Eastern Pacific.
