This apparent hybrid was recorded by a remote video camera operated by The MEGA Lab.  The body shape is definitely Calotomus but the two-tone color pattern and yellow caudal fin is not known from any parrotfish in Hawaii.  This specimen has the black pectoral fin blotch present in Calotomus carolinus, while it also has the black anal spot present in the endemic Calotomus zonarchus.
