Threadfins have two dorsal fins, under-slung mouths, and several pectoral fin rays are modified into elongated tactile structures to detect food items.  They inhabit sandy areas along the shoreline.  Excellent food fish.

Deepwater bottom fishes with a single long dorsal fin, large eyes, and a pair of barbels.  Ten species worldwide.
