Threadfins

Threadfins have two dorsal fins, under-slung mouths, and several pectoral fin rays are modified into elongated tactile structures to detect food items.

  SIX-FINGERED THREADFIN    MOI

Moi are locally common in sandy pockets in areas of surf near shore.  They are highly sought by angler for their fine white flesh.  May attain 2 feet but usually much less.  Raised in ponds for aquaculture and restocking wild populations.
