Family Ephippidae

Platax, Batfishes & Spadefishes

These outstanding fishes are extremely rare in Hawaii, likely occurring as aquarium releases in the case of Platax pinnatus & P. orbicularis around the main islands, or waifs at Midway Atoll.  They are not uncommon in the Indo-Pacific.
