Schooling young are occasionally seen in bays while adults are rare.  A nocturnal hunter with large eyes, elongate body, a black spot at the upper edge of the gill opening, and white fin tips.  Attains 33 inches.  Hawai‘i, Indo-Pacific, & the Tropical Eastern Pacific.
