Common on shallow rocky reefs or rubble flats. Neon blue, soft
dorsal, anal and caudal fins yellow with blue margin. Attains 3 inches.
Andaman Sea to Japan, east to French Polynesia, excluding
Hawai'i. Pomacentrus pavo
is larger, lighter blue with distinct dark vertical scale lines,
horizontal lines on head and back, and
posterior caudal rays yellow or blue. |
