Common along current-swept dropoffs at scuba depth.  Steel gray with dark scale margins, two dark bars on gill cover, caudal peduncle and fin in adults white or gray, yellow in juveniles.  Attains 7 inches.  Indonesia to Okinawa, east to French Polynesia, excluding Hawai'i.
