Uncommon in small groups along drop-offs of offshore islands or floating debris in the open sea.  Attains 16 inches.  Native range from Southern California to Ecuador and the Marquesas Islands, rare waifs recorded from Hawaii, the Society Islands, Guam, and Japan's Hachijo Island.  Formerly known as Sectator ocyurus & Sectator azureus.
