IRIDESCENT CARDINALFISH    'UPAPALU

Common on sandy reefs taking shelter in dark holes by day, emerging at night to feed upon zooplankton.  Displays an iridescent silver cast at night.  Faint stripes on fins may be present but never black as found on the larger Bandfin Cardinalfish.  Attains 6 inches.  Hawaii & the Indo-Pacific.  Formerly known as Apogon kallopterus.
