STELLAR MONTIPORA

Common on sheltered reefs within lagoons.  Contorted branches from an encrusting base, or tiered plates within depressions, small polyps surrounded by fused papillae of varying shape and size that may form axial ridges extending toward branch tips.  Yellowish or greenish brown.  Red Sea to Okinawa, Palau, and Tonga.
