BLACK SUN CORAL
Upright branching species common along current-swept walls and dropoffs.
Greenish black during the day when polyps are retracted. Attains
width of at least 5
feet. Indo-West Pacific excluding Hawaii. It has been
observed on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico near Louisiana, where it
may become invasive. Also known as Tubastraea
micrantha. |
