COMMON HORN CORAL

Fairly common on shallow reefs.  Encrusting, hemispherical, plate-like, or columnar with ribbed star-shaped cones 5 to 8mm in diameter which may fuse into parallel ridges, color variable, dark tentacles extended during the day.  Red Sea to Japan and Samoa.
