CONTORTED PAVONA
Common on shallow reefs exposed to wave action. Forms stands of
interlocking contorted blades, star-shaped calices in rows between
ridges. Golden brown. Pavona
decussata is larger and less contorted. Indo-Pacific &
Tropical Eastern Pacific, excluding Hawaii. Formerly known as Pavona
divaricata.
