LOW-RELIEF LETTUCE CORAL

Common on shallow reefs.  Encrusting domes or sheets, tan, brown or gray, 1 to 3 corallites centered in deep angular pits separated by sharp ridges.  Agaricia agaricites has vertical blade-like fronds.  North Carolina to Venezuela.
