LOGGERHEAD TURTLE
Endangered species rarely encountered around Hawaii. It is the
most common sea turtle along continental coasts such as the Southeast US where
it feeds upon snails and crabs on sand flats and seagrass beds.
The North Pacific population nests in Japan and migrates to Central
America to feed. Attains carapace length of 3.5 feet and lifespan of
at least 70 years. Warm seas
worldwide, with distinct regional populations.
