| Common in silty sand under rocks in shallow
water during winter months, often found in beach drift or occupied by a hermit
crab. The fresh shell is
coated with a thin yellow periostracum. Shell attains 1.2 inches,
30 mm. South Africa to Japan, Hawaii, and the Marquesas. |
