MARBLED TOP SHELL   KAHELELANI

Common under stones in shallow water.  Shell smooth, ranging from green in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands to red around the Island of Hawaii.  Operculum thin, aperture pearly.  Attains 0.25 inch, 6 mm.  Utilized for Ni'ihau shell lei.  Red Sea to Hawaii and the Society Islands.
