ORANGE-MOUTHED TRITON
| Rare in Hawaii deeper than 100 feet, but uncommon elsewhere at
shallower depths, in sandy mud, rubble or under rocks. Cream,
sometimes with brown streaks, unmarked siphonal canal, and dark
reddish-orange or pink aperture. Larger than, and long confused with
Ranularia springsteeni. Attains 4 inches, 100mm. Philippines to Japan,
Fiji, and
Hawaii. Formerly
known as Cymatium gutturnium. |
