TRITON'S TRUMPET Pu
| Uncommon on ledges and walls deeper than 20 feet. They prey upon
coral-killing sea
stars, but over-collecting has depleted these important snails.
A trumpet is created by removing the upper few whorls.
Attains 19.3 inches, 490mm. Red Sea to Hawaii, Japan, Pitcairn, Cocos
Island, and the Galapagos. Member of a worldwide species complex. |
