MOURNFUL MITER

Uncommon under dead coral deeper than 15 feet.  Slender, with spiral rows of pits becoming grooves on the base, dark brown with a faint peripheral band.  Attains 1.4 inches, 35 mm.  South Africa to Hong Kong, Hawaii, and French Polynesia.  Formerly known as Mitra (Nebularia) luctuosa.
