FRECKLED CONE
| Vary rare in Hawaii but common elsewhere, in sand on hard reef or
rubble at any depth. Distinctive
beaded spirals on the body whorl and tall coronated spire, light gray or
pink with variable brown blotches which may form two bands, and many
spirals of brown dots, aperture yellow. Attains 2.4 inches, 61 mm.
South Africa to Okinawa, Hawaii, and the Tuamotus. |
