HEBREW CONE

| Common partially buried in sand on shallow reefs
exposed to wave action. Shell coronated, color pattern varies considerably
within a population, and the body whole has beaded spirals toward the
base, aperture purple and white. The animal is striped white and
black with a red-tipped siphon. Attains record size of 2.4 inches, 62 mm in Hawaii. South
Africa to Japan, Hawaii, French Polynesia, Gulf of California, and Ecuador. |
