CAT CONE

| Locally common partially buried in
sand of tidepools and reef benches exposed to wave action.
It preys upon sleeping gobies and blennies at night. Body whorl
and spire spirally grooved, brown with white flame-like
markings and spiral dashes, aperture white, animal mottled brown and white. Attains
2.1 inches, 52 mm. Red Sea to Japan, Hawaii, and French Polynesia. |
