Common on reefs at any depth. Brown with yellow
below, dark scale margins, black spot on caudal peduncle; juvenile
yellow with blue above, ocellus on dorsal fin, blue spot on caudal
peduncle. Attains 5 inches.
Florida to Venezuela & the Gulf of Mexico. Recently separated
from Stegastes variabilis from Southern Brazil. |
