HAWAIIAN RUBY CARDINALFISH

A common but shy fish seen on reefs at night, it has a normal lifespan of only 4 months.  Attains 2 inches.  Endemic to Hawai'i.  Related to several similar species in the Indo-Pacific.  Formerly reported from Hawaii as Apogon coccineus.
