Family Toxotidae
Archerfishes
| Archerfishes inhabit coastal waters and estuaries of Southeast Asia
and the Tropical Pacific. They float just below the surface and
capture insect prey on overhead vegetation by spitting a stream of water
to dislodge them. Some species may be able to hit targets as far
as 10 feet away. |
