RAW conversions using Silkypix version 2

Global Corrections

Global corrections are a complete set of corrections that are applied to each RAW file to get a close match to the desired result.  Fine tuning for individual images come later, just before development.  Applying global corrections to a group of similar images is the most efficient way to start.  Since the program applies automatic exposure upon opening, a rough brightness adjustment is all you need to apply for your baseline image.  With practice you will be able to recognize groups and be able to apply global settings from one of four 'cloakrooms'.

Most of your images will fall into several groups.  These may be dark, normal, bright, or have a noticeable color cast.  After applying all subsequent corrections in this tutorial to your baseline image, you will place that set into one of four cloakrooms and perhaps save those settings for future use.

You can also use the 'copy development parameter' and 'paste development parameter' commands to apply your favorite global correction easily to a group of selected images.

Cloakrooms

Cloakrooms are containers used to store a set of parameters and apply them quickly to any image.  With four active cloakrooms you can save lots of time by applying and undoing various combinations until a 'best fit' is found.  Simply click on the arrow button left of the cloakroom you want to use then click on the middle button with the time stamp to apply corrections to another image.

A cloakroom can be used at any time but is best applied after all global correction stages are complete.  Note that cloakrooms are emptied when the program is closed but are retained in the .spd & .spi files.
