FRILLED WORM SHELL

Common among crustose coralline algae in shallow water.  Coiled or conforming to the substrate, brown with close-set rings crossed by axial ridges, giving it a frilled texture.  Aperture dark brown, diameter 0.2 inch, 4 mm, overall diameter or length of 0.8 inch, 20 mm.  Formerly known as Dendropoma rhyssoconcha.  Endemic to Hawaii.
