Turrids are a diverse group of shells that have a venomous barb to capture prey.  They have a distinctive posterior notch on the outer lip.  Most are less than 1 inch long.

Common on hard reef & under stones at scuba depths.  Attains 1 inch.  Hawaii  & the Indo-Pacific.

Common under stones at any depth.  Attains 3mm.  Hawaii  & the Southwest Pacific.

Makapu'u tidepool, Oahu

Common under stones on wave-washed reefs and benches.  Attains 1cm.  Hawaii & the Tropical Pacific.
