MIDWAY TOP SHELL

Uncommon under rocks deeper than 50 feet.  Stout, with five inflated whorls and deep suture, spiral cords with grooves of greater diameter are beaded by diagonal axial threads of lesser diameter, aperture with a strong varix, columella denticulate with a basal tooth, aperture white.  Cream with brown splashes.  Worn shells are white with red spots.  Attains 0.4 inch, 10mm.  East Banda Sea, Taiwan, Marianas, and Hawaii.  Formerly placed within Family Trochidae; Euchelus midwayensis is a synonym.
