PELE'S MUREX

Uncommon on coralline reefs deeper than 30 feet.  White shell may be tinted with purple, red, or yellow.  Feeds upon boring mussels in reef rock.  Attains >3 inches in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands.  Maldives to Vanuatu and Hawaii  Formerly known as Homalocantha anatomica pele.
