LEAFY HORNMOUTH

Common under stones on rocky reefs where it drills into other mollusks.  Extremely variable in form and color, typically encrusted with coralline algae.  Attains 4.5 inches.  Alaska to Baja California.  Formerly known as Purpura foliata.
