SHINGLE or HELMET URCHIN    HA'UKE'UKE

Abundant on surf-swept cliffs, but rarely encountered outside Hawaii.  Unique shape resists the force of large waves.  Gonads are a Hawaiian delicacy.  Attains 3 inches.  East Africa to Hawaii and the Tuamotus.
